Embark on a journey of linguistic exploration with Talking Cultures. This innovative zine series celebrates the art of translation and cultural adaptation through short, poetic pieces.
Talking Cultures
TALKING CULTURES: I am beginning a new project. It will consist of a series of Zines. Each issue will contain one hybrid short poem-like piece by Marjorie Kanter and translations/adaptations by native speakers to other languages.
Call for Participants for Issue number one. Now closed. Multiple language esponses follow the CFP.
CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: You are invited to participate in a project to share &explore the process of translation & adaptation from language-to-language, multicultural & multilinguistic.
Participants: I am looking for natives of other languages to participate in this first issue (and beyond) with their translation/adaptation of the text for this first issue. Along the way, we will explore translation/adaptation in process & in some cases play with the original text in some way.
Product: The Zine will be called 'Talking Cultures' and I plan to have the first issue for around June-July, 2024. Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic are covered already for the first issue. The Zine will be produced in a stapled paper booklet (Saddle Stitched) and also digitally. Each participant will receive a digital document ready for printing to make their own. If you would like further information and to participate, please send a message to margiekanter@gmail.com
Distribution: Translators will receive (for their use) a digitally ready-to-print-on-paper file in pdf and also prepared for digital posting. Each translator will have their name included with their translation/adaptation.
